We are seeking for an experienced all-round Accountant. The successful candidate will relish a challenge and the opportunity to bring their initiative and improvement experience to a growth-focused listed company.


Reporting directly to the Financial Controller and working closely with management, this is a role with an opportunity to influence the impact and reliability of the accounting function of the group.

Duties include

  • Assisting with the management of the admin team to achieve the reporting timetable targets
  • Preparation of reconciliations, journals and support
  • Assisting to compile the monthly management reporting
  • Working with the Financial Controller and audit to produce the Group’s annual report to ASX standards
  • Addressing unique technical requirements such as accounting for intangible assets and the application of new accounting standards
  • Assisting with ASX and tax compliance and reporting requirements

  Other responsibilities and exposures:

  • Assistance with the group’s M&A projects from time to time
  • Providing support to the operations team when necessary, with ad-hoc queries, analysis and other projects
  • Preparation and oversight of BAS, FBT, payroll tax and other compliance obligations
  • Liaising with tax agents and authorities
  • Assistance with the group budgeting process
  • Provision of support to the administrative team


Qualifications:  Bachelor of commerce preferable but not essential

Experience: 5 years’ experience in a similar role

Key skills and Competencies:

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel & Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail

Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood has an immediate need for a Project Accountant to join our expanding team based in Perth, Western Australia. This role is primarily responsible for Accounting for projects which will include lump sum and reimbursable contracts, both long and short term with a focus on ensuring the company conforms to accounting principles and business processes.

This key role works closely with wider Wood team and internally includes interface with Finance Management, Project Managers / Engineers, Project Controllers and Billing Specialists to obtain produce individual project financials, project analysis and project forecasts. Interfacing with Auditors will be an external requirement.

Previous Oracle experience is preferred (but not a must for this role), however expertise in this software platform is highly regarded.

At this time, we will only consider applications from Australian citizens or those with the required permit / VISA for this region in place.

Project Responsibilities

  • Understand the financial information contained within the commercial agreements, agreed rates and required approvals
  • Provide project accounting assistance at kick off meetings and monthly project review meetings
  • Work with Project Controls to ensure each project is set up to capture the structure correctly i.e. in Lump sum contracts, Revenue recognition points, Billing milestones
  • Review Project costs in the month and make necessary accruals for missing costs
  • Review Variation Orders (VO’s) and potential VO’s confirming the accounting with regards to their status / probability of being awarded by the client
  • Ensure we are meeting the conditions for revenue recognition and billing milestones and ensuring we are accounting for the Revenue milestones vs cash milestones appropriately
  • Account for the Impact of FX on each of the projects. For all non-functional currency projects on – understanding what is the cost to the business and improve our hedging activities
  • Maintain visibility over all costs incurred; pass through costs, and, passing them through timely
  • Maintain Visibility over amounts Unbilled and work with Billing specialists to get invoices out timely
  • Accounting for costs that have not yet been received on the project (maintaining margins) in accordance with the project CTR / Activities
  • Margin analysis, Cost rate vs Sell rate explaining mix and volume variance
  • Accounting from a full project forecast to the end of the job compared to “As Sold”
  • Contingency analysis – Understanding what we have to work with in the project and accounting for contingency when releases or increases are due

Reporting Responsibilities

  • Project reporting within established internal and agreed client procedures
  • Provide variance analysis showing “As Sold / Original” P / L verses “Actual / Current” P/L
  • Maintaining Cash Flow implications on the wider business, especially on large projects
  • Maintaining clear visibility of the project balance sheet
  • Reconciliation and financial management of Work in Progress (WIP), sales, unbilled / accrued
  • Reconcile the Job cost ledger to the General Ledger
  • Reporting Backlog, Backlog burn and replenishment and Lump sum profit restrictions
Skills / Qualifications:
  • Tertiary Degree in Accounting and CPA /CA qualified, with 3 - 5 years post qualification experience
  • Strong demonstrable Oracle software skills
  • Strong Excel (advanced) experience
  • Demonstrated Financial Accounting experience in a similar role
  • Professional attitude with effective interpersonal skills
  • Be a team player and committed to business improvement, with the ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to work under pressure, be resilient and work to deadlines with strong attention to detail

Roles description

Based in GBS Romania or Southampton and reporting to the Corporate Finance Development Manager as part of the New Categories Corporate Finance Team the role is required to support operationalisation of several cross functional programmes within the new categories function including but not limited to supply chain improvement initiatives, new market launches and new category launches. The role will ensure accurate corporate and commercial reporting, LRD governance, SoX and NVT SODA compliance in each project and proactive drive and stakeholder management is used to deliver well controlled and governed operations with accurate reported financials.

Job purpose and deliverables

  • Third party distribution model – working with end markets that require direct sales from NVT to distributor completing ABAC, contract review and preparation for HOF/FD sign off, establishing pricing and reporting structures, establishing marketing expense processes and processes for continual monitoring of ABAC criteria’s and contract performance incentives to ensure accurate reporting and payments;
  • LRD – working with end markets, NC IT, LeX and Tax for LRD launch to include drafting board notes and NVT business cases assessments to the NVT board, contract review and pricing, review of marketing recharges process, dealing with initial launch requirements in governed manner e.g. stock for customs classification purposes.
  • Licence markets – supporting Licence market proposals with NVT financial assessment LRD vs Licence, board note preparation and contract review and pricing.
  • Supporting new launch markets with forecasts requirements to ensure accurate capture in overall NVT forecasts reported to the board.
  • Assisting Corporate Finance development manager with developing launch guidance to support new markets to transform reactive launches into proactive managed and timely launches with reduce manual workarounds;
  • Responsible for establishing the accounting for new entities with respect to statutory, management and Group e.g. Nicoventures Swiss and BTV
  • To support management in production of the ten-year rolling forecast ensuring supportable inputs, documented model, robust and accurate investment appraisal in line with the requirements of IAS 36.
  • To support Treasury and FX reviews with respect to new market launches especially items like FX controls, sanctions and ensuring these items are captured in the ABAC and reported to the HOF, FD and NVT board as required.

Essential requirements

  • Degree educated with professional accountancy qualification (i.e. CA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • A good understanding of group and corporate finance principles/experience and ability to deliver commercial insights in a rapidly evolving area of the business.
  • Appreciation of taxation consequences as part of financial reporting would be useful: particularly transfer pricing and limited risk distribution models.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of data and present in a simple, innovative and impactful way using all current systems to simplify and automate information management. i.e. SAP/ BI/BPC.
  • BPC/SAP experience
  • Experience of IFRS9 and IAS 36 desired but not essential can be taught;
  • End market Finance knowledge desired but not essential;
  • Ability to prioritise and is resilient.
  • Ability to identify process and reporting improvements and proactively implement solutions.
  • Ability to work independently managing stakeholders across a wide range of location and markets.
  • Works as an effective Business Partner with a collaborative and flexible style. The role will require integration with Commercial Finance, R&D Finance and Operations Finance.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills are required to influence and challenge.
  • Maintains excellent working relationships with all stakeholders and is a team player.
