The Opportunity
Our Finance Team is seeking an Accountant to be responsible for maintaining financial, accounting and administrative services in order to meet legislative requirements and support the Accounting Team.

This will be a varied position, which will involve being responsible for a selection of business units including the NDIS finance function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that NDIS data is accurate, billing is up to date and exceptions are followed up promptly
  • Support the accounting team with all finance activities, including end of month processes, reconciliation where requested and audit queries as required
  • Provide support with budget activities, including preparation and reconciliation
  • Provide financial information by collecting, analysing, and summarizing data and trends including quarterly reporting
  • Attend to all communications in a respectful, courteous and helpful manner and prioritise enquires from internal and external customers.

The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or relevant and extensive experience in a similar role. We are seeking a dynamic individual who has high level of effective communication, problem solving analytical and IT skills.

The Position

While our preference is for a bookkeeper with legal firm experience, we encourage applications from anyone who is confident maintaining trust account and firm accounts records with a computerised practice management/accounting system.  We will provide on-the-job training in our systems and procedures in the initial phase of employment.

Ideally, applicants will be familiar with the compliance requirements of legislation and the Law Society of South Australia with regard to trust accounts record-keeping, audits and reporting although PMN will arrange for additional training if required.  The position also entails management of general office, financial and taxation accounting activity and banking.  The successful applicant will be responsible for the production of reports and schedules associated with the running of legal matters,  reporting directly to our solicitors, partners and associates.

Applicants should have strong written language and presentation skills which are necessary for clear communication and reporting of financial activity to our partners, clients and relevant authorities.

Ideally suited to a recent accounting graduate or person with some bookkeeping training or qualification.

The successful applicant will be responsible for basic bookkeeping and the production of reports and schedules associated with the running of legal matters. 

Applicants should have strong written language and presentation skills which are necessary for clear communication with our partners, clients and relevant authorities.  Proficiency in the use of Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel is expected however we will provide specific training in the use of our legal practice management systems.

• Experience in providing Tax and/or GST consulting advice and/or compliance experience
• Knowledge of the systems, processes and controls that are relevant to the preparation of income tax returns and/or business activity statements
• Knowledge of the structures and tax planning approaches used in large and/or private businesses
• Proven experience in the tax, accounting or law fields (ideally from a mid-tier or large firm)
• Willingly shares information and work with peers to streamline processes and create efficiencies

About the Role
We are looking for a passionate, energetic and experienced accountant to provide financial support to our Mildura operations, across farming and manufacturing.

Reporting to the Regional Finance Manager you will be responsible for data entry, analysis, budget development, forecasting of expenditure, monthly reporting, assisting with project management, business case development and providing support to the Regional Manager in a timely and accurate manner. No two days will be the same, so you will be adaptable, flexible and creative. With a love for data and analysis, you will enjoy identifying opportunities to improve overall business performance, adding value through effective business partnering and insights.


Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will:

  • Have 3+ years of experience in an accounting role
  • Have a degree in Accounting or related discipline with a commercial focus
  • Have advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Have an understanding and ability to apply accounting principles and concepts
  • Be results orientated and a strategic thinker and influencer

•     Be open with integrity and focused on self-development

Additionally, candidates with the following attributes will be highly regarded

  • Experience in manufacturing, processing or agriculture
  • Have a clear understanding of the issues impacting agricultural, manufacturing and logistics
