Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award - Band 1, Level 1-13

Permanent - 01 February 2021, full-time 70.00 hours per fortnight

To implement and manage appropriate learning programs for students and to assess individual student progress.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications as established by the Tasmanian Industrial Commission in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award, 2005.

Current certificate of registration; or provisional registration; or limited authority to teach granted by the Teachers Registration Board (Tasmania) in accordance with the provisions of the Teachers Registration Act 2000. Please note that a person with a limited authority to teach can only be employed on a fixed-term basis.

Under the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award;

  • Any new employee commencing from 2018 will not progress past Band 1 Level 9 unless the employee has full teacher registration as certified by the Teachers Registration Board (Tasmania).
  • An employee who has been at Band 1 Level 12 for 12 months or more and has full teacher registration as certified by the Teachers Registration Board (Tasmania) is eligible to progress to Level 13.

The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment.

The cost associated with obtaining a Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People is the responsibility of the individual.

Desirable Requirements

Four years or more training as defined in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award 2005

You must have a Cert 3 or Diploma and have some experience in the childcare sector. We want people who can hit the ground running!

Relief hours will vary but we’re looking for availability 5 days each week.

This position requires a Working with Vulnerable Peoples Check, first aid, knowledge of the NQS and demonstrated skills of working successfully with others.

Working in three beautiful locations in the natural surrounds of the Huon Valley, you will be providing children with the opportunity to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for successful future learning, while providing quality early learning and care services.

For the Support Educator role, you will have completed your Certificate III and have previous experience within an early childhood education and care setting.  You will possess high level communication skills, with the ability to use initiative to plan your workload and solve problems as they arise.

If you have completed your Diploma and have previous experience in planning and delivering Children’s Services programs, then the Qualified Educator role is for you. You will also possess high level communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and resolve conflict when necessary, as well as the ability to coach and supervise Support Educators, students and volunteers.
